Cincinnati, Ohio April, 2009 - Local Cincinnati resident Julie Weeden was recently invited to join nearly two hundred of (his/her) peers at a national conference in Los Angeles, CA, hosted by Cultural Care Au Pair. Weeden is a Cultural Care Au Pair local childcare coordinator (LCC) for Clifton, Hyde Park, Indian Hill, Montgomery, Blue Ash and surrounding areas. At the conference, Weeden represented Cincinnati, networked with other coordinators from across the country and participated in professional development seminars. (He/she) also attended a gala dinner at the historic Roosevelt Hotel to celebrate the program’s 20th anniversary and to honor the 2009 International Au Pair of the Year, Ricardo Silva de Araújo of Brazil, the second year in a row a Cultural Care au pair has received the highest honor in the industry.
As a local childcare coordinator, Julie supports area families who are currently hosting an au pair in their home, as well as the au pairs themselves. Julie earned her invitation to the conference by way of program growth in the previous year for her role as a local community resource for parents interested in intercultural childcare.
Julie is a member of a nationwide network of more than 600 local childcare coordinators dedicated to promoting global understanding through intercultural childcare. In addition to supporting a local group of host families and their au pairs, Julie organizes social activities throughout the program year, advises au pairs on educational opportunities in the community and provides advice on intercultural exchange. Julie and (his/her) colleagues use the conference as an opportunity to collaborate on the most effective means to support their families and au pairs locally, ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved with the program.
Julie is currently interviewing area parents who are interested in hosting an au pair. (She/He) can be contacted at (513) 807 7403 for additional information on the Cultural Care Au Pair program. Interested families may also visit the Cultural Care Au Pair Web site at www.culturalcare.com.
